The official release date
Grand Theft Auto VI launches worldwide on Thursday, November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The date is confirmed by Rockstar Games on the official Newswire, the only source that binds the company to a calendar.
Two things matter here. First, this is the second date Rockstar has put on the calendar for GTA VI. The original window, May 26, 2026, was announced in May 2025 alongside Trailer 2. Rockstar slipped it six months in early November 2025. Second, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has reaffirmed the date publicly at every opportunity since, including at the Q3 FY2026 earnings call on February 3, 2026 where he said his confidence in the November 19 window was "at maximum".
Will there be a third delay?
The honest read on May 3, 2026: probably not.
Three independent voices that move this story are aligned. James Jarvis on the GTAVI O'Clock podcast puts his confidence at 90 percent that Rockstar holds the date. Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, the reporter whose January remarks were misread as a delay prediction, calls the November window "more solid" than any previous target. Strauss Zelnick at Take-Two told investors his confidence is at maximum and joked at iicon Las Vegas on April 28 that "a lot of people will be calling in sick on November 19."
The next binary check is the Take-Two Q4 FY2026 earnings call on May 21, 2026. If the company reaffirms the date and posts a high FY27 forecast that includes the launch quarter, the November 19 window is locked in the books, not just in interviews.
Platforms at launch
GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026 on:
- PlayStation 5 (including PS5 Pro)
- Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S
There is no day-one PC version.
What about the PC version?
Rockstar has not announced a PC release date for GTA 6. Based on the studio's own pattern, expect the PC version twelve to eighteen months after the console launch:
- GTA V launched on PS3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013, hit PC in April 2015 (eighteen months later).
- Red Dead Redemption 2 launched on PS4 and Xbox One in October 2018, hit PC in November 2019 (thirteen months later).
Applying that window to a November 19, 2026 console launch puts the GTA 6 PC release somewhere between late 2027 and mid 2028. Treat any specific PC date floating around as rumor until Rockstar publishes it on the Newswire.
How long until GTA 6 launches?
From May 3, 2026, the launch window is about six and a half months out. The marketing campaign Take-Two committed to in February starts "soon" per Zelnick at iicon, which most readings translate to a Trailer 3 + pre-order open window between May and August 2026.
What to watch between now and November 19
The signals that move the date one way or the other:
- The Take-Two Q4 FY2026 earnings call on May 21, 2026. Reaffirmation plus a high FY27 booking forecast = locked.
- Rockstar Newswire posts. Anything non-GTA-Online from the official Newswire is a marketing-campaign trigger. The Trailer 3 drop is the most likely first move.
- PSN and Xbox Store listings. Pre-order pages going live is the operational signal that the launch date is firm.
- Insider Gaming and Bloomberg. Tom Henderson and Jason Schreier are the two voices whose track records move the consensus when they speak.
Anything from a non-Rockstar Twitter account claiming a new date is rumor, not signal. Trust the Newswire.
