Are GTA 6 pre-orders open?

No, not as of May 3, 2026.

The PlayStation Store has no GTA 6 listing. The Xbox Store has no GTA 6 listing. The Rockstar Store has no GTA 6 listing. Major retailers (Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Target, Fnac, Cdiscount, Micromania) show no real SKU. Anything you find online claiming to take a pre-order today is a placeholder page or a third-party reseller, not an official Rockstar transaction.

The cleanest signal that pre-orders are about to open is a Rockstar Newswire post that is not about GTA Online. That post will either be Trailer 3, the boxart reveal, or the pre-order announcement itself. They tend to land in that order.

When will pre-orders open?

Rockstar has not committed to a public date for the pre-order window. The expected band is May to August 2026, anchored on three points:

1. Take-Two's marketing commitment. In the Q3 FY2026 earnings call on February 3, 2026, Take-Two said the marketing campaign starts in summer 2026.
2. Strauss Zelnick at iicon Las Vegas, April 28, 2026. He tightened the language from "summer 2026" to "soon", a signal the campaign launch is closer to weeks than months.
3. The Take-Two Q4 FY2026 earnings call on May 21, 2026. This is the first place Take-Two has to put a yearly forecast on the table that includes the GTA VI launch quarter. Pre-orders typically open within the marketing wave that surrounds this call.

Historically, Rockstar opens pre-orders alongside the trailer that confirms the launch window. For GTA V the pre-orders went live in February 2013, seven months before the September launch. For Red Dead Redemption 2 they went live on June 6, 2018, four and a half months before the October launch. Both cases anchor pre-order timing to a public marketing event, not a corporate earnings call.

How much will GTA 6 cost?

For the standard edition, Strauss Zelnick told the press in March 2026 that GTA 6 will land in the $70 to $80 range, "consistent with current AAA standards". Rockstar has not confirmed the exact number on the Newswire, and no edition tier has been priced yet.

What we can rule out:

• It will not be $59.99. That tier is dead at AAA in 2026.
• It will not be $100 for the standard. Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter floated a $100 price for a deluxe edition with extra GTA Online rewards, but that is an analyst hypothesis, not a Rockstar statement, and Pachter himself attributed it to a deluxe tier, not the standard.

What we do not know:

• The Collector edition price.
• Whether Rockstar will sell a non-game Collector's Box (RDR2 had one at $99.99 with no game inside).
• Whether the standard edition will be $69.99, $74.99, or $79.99 inside Zelnick's band.

Where to pre-order GTA 6

When pre-orders open, the official storefronts will be:

• PlayStation Store (digital, PS5)
• Xbox Store (digital, Xbox Series X/S)
• Rockstar Store (digital + physical merch bundles direct from Rockstar)

Major retailers expected to carry the physical and digital editions:

Pre-order from an official storefront only. Third-party reseller sites and key resellers are a recurring scam vector around big Rockstar launches. If a site is offering GTA 6 below Zelnick's $70-80 band before Rockstar opens pre-orders, that is not a deal, that is a fraud signal.

What pre-order bonuses to expect

Rockstar has not announced any pre-order bonus. Based on GTA V (2013) and Red Dead Redemption 2 (2018), expect a mix of:

• GTA Online launch cash. A starter cash pack for the multiplayer mode that ships with or shortly after launch. GTA V offered $1,000,000 of in-game cash split between Story Mode and GTA Online for higher-tier editions.
• In-game vehicles. A small set of unique cars or bikes only available to pre-orderers (or to higher-tier editions).
• Cosmetic items. Outfits, weapon skins, or apartment customization tied to specific editions.

What pre-orders historically do not unlock on Rockstar games: early access. GTA V, RDR2, and every other mainline Rockstar release went live at the same global street date for every edition. Treat any "pre-order for early access" claim outside of Rockstar's own Newswire as fake.

How to know the moment pre-orders open

Three signals that fire within minutes of each other:

1. A Rockstar Newswire post titled around "Pre-order" or "Editions".
2. A new product page on PlayStation Store and Xbox Store.
3. Major retailers (Amazon, Best Buy) publishing live SKUs.

The fastest way to be there at the open is to follow the Rockstar Newswire RSS, or watch a credible aggregator. Pre-order pages on big launches sometimes go live for a few hours before the marketing push catches up, which is enough time to lock the edition you want before stock allocations bite on the Collector tier.

What we will know on May 21, 2026

The Take-Two Q4 FY2026 earnings call on May 21 is the binary moment for the launch quarter. Three outcomes that change this guide:

• Reaffirmed November 19 + high FY27 forecast. Pre-orders open within weeks. The next Newswire post is the trigger.
• Reaffirmed November 19, no Trailer 3 yet, modest forecast. Pre-order window slides toward August around Trailer 3.
• Anything else. A new delay would push every date in this guide and we would update accordingly.
