TAKE-TWO CONFIRMS GTA 6 FOR NOVEMBER 19, 2026
No delay, marketing and preorders launching this summer: the May 21, 2026 investor call has officially locked in the GTA 6 calendar.
After weeks of rumors and speculation, Take-Two Interactive has finally cleared the air on Grand Theft Auto VI. During its May 21, 2026 investor call, the group led by Strauss Zelnick confirmed several major points: the game's release remains set for November 19, 2026, preorders will open during the summer, and the marketing campaign will also begin this summer.
A statement long awaited by players, who were fearing a new delay after the many rumors that surfaced over the past few weeks.
GTA 6 will indeed launch on November 19, 2026
First key point: no delay has been announced. GTA 6 is still scheduled for Thursday, November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
Strauss Zelnick confirmed the date without ambiguity, putting an end to the speculation that had been circulating for days about a possible slip. The CEO even said he didn't understand where the rumors relayed by some US retailers like Best Buy came from.
Holding the calendar is seen as a strong signal by investors. Six months out from release, the slightest hint of doubt from Take-Two would have immediately worried the markets. Instead, the publisher is now displaying full confidence in its schedule.
Preorders will arrive during the summer
The other big announcement covers GTA 6 preorders. Take-Two has confirmed they will open during the summer of 2026, without giving a precise date.
That period will also mark the real launch of the game's marketing campaign. Players should then discover the different editions on offer (Standard, Special, Ultimate or Collector) as well as the first official artwork and preorder bonuses.
The announcement also kills the recent rumors of an early preorder window starting in May. According to Zelnick, no such operation was planned before the summer.
The calendar remains nevertheless consistent with Rockstar Games' habits. For comparison, preorders for Red Dead Redemption 2 began several months before its 2018 release.
A marketing campaign built for 2026
Take-Two also dropped several hints about the marketing strategy that will accompany GTA 6.
According to Strauss Zelnick, Rockstar is planning a "massive" campaign tailored to today's audience habits. Unlike the very TV-heavy promotion of GTA V back in 2013, the focus will now be on digital, content creators, and social media.
The goal is clear: reach a global audience through platforms like TikTok, YouTube or Twitch, rather than traditional media.
That approach reflects how the market has changed in more than a decade. Where GTA V had to appeal to several tens of millions of players, GTA 6 is now aiming at a launch on an even more gigantic scale.
Take-Two targets more than 8 billion dollars for FY2027
Beyond the game itself, the call mostly reassured financial analysts.
Take-Two is forecasting between 8 and 8.2 billion dollars in net bookings for its fiscal year FY2027 (April 2026 to March 2027). A massive jump compared to the 6.72 billion recorded for FY2026.
For industry observers, that figure carries a clear message: the publisher is building its financial outlook around an effective GTA 6 release on November 19, 2026.
If a delay was being considered internally, Take-Two would probably have adopted a more cautious tone or shifted part of its targets to the following fiscal year. That is not the case.
Strauss Zelnick even said FY2027 would establish "new records" thanks to the GTA 6 launch and the strength of the publisher's portfolio.
The Best Buy rumors definitively dismissed
For several days, the community had passed along information from Best Buy listings hinting at early preorders starting in May.
Asked about it, Strauss Zelnick simply said he didn't know where those rumors came from.
A short reply, but enough to end the speculation. For Take-Two, the preorder launch remains scheduled only for the summer of 2026.
The final stretch before release
This investor call marks the start of GTA 6's final phase.
In the coming weeks, players should finally discover prices, special editions, preorder bonuses, and the first concrete elements of the promotional campaign.
Take-Two is now entering a decisive period: six months to turn the gigantic anticipation around the game into a historic launch.
And for the first time in a long time, the calendar looks fully locked in.
